We’re fresh off hosting the first-ever Iron Sheepdog Broker User Summit at Rocky Gap Resort & Casino. Wow, what a wonderful experience!

With over 20 brokers in attendance, several contractors and sponsors, the event featured several sessions for platform users to learn best practices and provide valuable feedback on new feature development. The theme of this event (whose venue also featured a casino) was “We’re going all in” and, true to form, the event was also designed to showcase the value of the Iron Sheepdog broker network, with opportunities for attendees to share experiences, learn from one another, and socialize away from the day-to-day business demands.

“We had a very clear vision of what we hoped to gain during this inaugural event, but it’s hard to know for sure when you plan an event from scratch,” explains Jake Liebler, Co-Founder and President of Iron Sheepdog. “I’m so pleased that our Broker User Summit surpassed our highest expectations. And we’re already looking ahead to future similar events.”

Intent on Getting Better

Iron Sheepdog built its platform to make hauling simple and smart. Inherent in that mission is making a complex system with disparate players perform cohesively, with transparency and reliability at the forefront. Primarily a tool for brokers to operate their hauling business, the technology has been designed to be simple and intuitive. Brokers who are powered by Iron Sheepdog are able to offer real time truck tracking, daily information about job costs and load counts and greater efficiency for their clients.

“We are a broker business management tool, but this conference was also a way to demonstrate that Iron Sheepdog has the potential to be so much more,” added Mike Van Sickel, Co-Founder and CEO of Iron Sheepdog. “We brought contractors together with our brokers so that they could hear directly from one another how to provide value. We want the brokers who use Iron Sheepdog to stand apart, and we are seeing that take shape – it is very rewarding.”

As Iron Sheepdog continues to invest in the development of new features, its Broker User Summit was a vital opportunity for brokers to offer feedback on which enhancements would provide the most value for their business. Set in the mountains of western Maryland with a lake providing scenic views, attendees were able to share their feedback in both formal and informal exchanges throughout the one-and-a-half day summit.

In addition to contractors, the Broker User Summit provided attendees a chance to learn about other related services and benefits available – from insurance to fuel programs to truck sales and leasing programs.

“We often talk about Iron Sheepdog as a way for our brokers to provide more than dispatch services, and this conference helped to showcase some of the ways we help them add value,” Liebler added. “We’re really just beginning to bring this vision into reality. It’s a very exciting time for us.”
